Dr. Esther Arenas-Arroyo is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for a part-time Research Assistant position to support projects in labor economics. The main focus will be on creating datasets from text-based sources (e.g. scanned documents, directories, websites) and conducting data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

- Extracting structured data from unstructured or semi-structured text

- Web scraping and automated data collection

- Data cleaning, organization, and preliminary analysis

- Assisting with data visualization and documentation

Essential Qualifications:

- Strong programming skills in Python

- Experience with text processing, regular expressions, and web scraping

- Familiarity with Python libraries such as pandas, re, BeautifulSoup, or OCR tools

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Ability to work independently

- Working proficiency in English

Experience with Stata or R is a plus but not required.

Position Details:

- Part-time: 4 hours per week. The salary will be adjusted to the number of hours.
