Looking back on two inspiring days at the @consultingdays at the Universität St.Gallen (HSG) – Switzerland’s leading recruiting event for the consulting industry! 🎓 Our time in St. Gallen was filled with energy, curiosity, and meaningful conversations. We kicked things off with one-on-one interviews with selected students. These personal conversations gave us the chance to learn about individual backgrounds and explore how their strengths could align with the diverse fields we work in at Porsche Consulting. Later that day, we hosted our strategy workshop. Their creative, hands-on solutions and team spirit truly impressed us – and coaching these teams as their ideas came to life was a highlight of the day. We rounded off the evening with a relaxed business dinner, creating space for personal exchange and deeper conversations about consulting life. Afterwards, we joined the career fair, meeting many motivated students eager to learn more about a career in consulting and the opportunities we offer. Supporting young talents and helping them explore whether consulting is the right path for them is something we’re genuinely passionate about, and events like this are at the heart of how we make those connections. #PorscheConsulting #ConsultingDays #FutureTalent #CareerInConsulting #WorkshopExperience #Networking

While battery electric vehicles (BEVs) provide clear benefits, many drivers still hesitate due to range anxiety and cost concerns. To bridge this gap, carmakers and suppliers must rethink product portfolios and embrace flexibility in powertrain strategies. 🔋 At the Aachen Colloquium for Sustainable Mobility, Porsche Consulting shared its outlook on the development of electrification in Europe and how automotive players can succeed in advancing their electrification strategies: ➡ Europe and the U.S. trail behind China in electrification Europe’s electrification rate stands at 23%, while China leads with a rate of 55%. This is not just powered by BEVs but also a strong surge in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and range-extended electric vehicles (REEV). Europe and the U.S. remain predominantly focused on BEVs but must broaden their horizons. ➡ OEMs are gearing up for flexible powertrain strategies By 2030, OEMs expect BEVs to lead Europe’s electrification. Yet, about half of them plan to keep a conservative mix, maintaining internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and hybrids to stay flexible among evolving market demands. This balanced approach helps them navigate uncertain regulations and diverse customer needs as the transition unfolds. ➡ China’s leading position signals REEVs will surge in Europe China has a leading position in electrification by over 3 years, setting the stage for fast growth of REEV and PHEV in Europe. ICE vehicles won’t disappear soon but will coexist with new powertrains. Chinese OEMs highlight REEVs’ growing role in European segments, while OEMs announce new models in Europe – signaling rising innovation and activity ahead. ➡ REEVs offer a high market potential in Europe REEVs break through range barriers and offer higher profitability of up to 5% compared to BEVs in relevant use cases. Their market potential exceeds €50 billion in Europe by 2035. Automotive players must identify growth areas, build resilient portfolios, and drive forward a balanced, sustainable transformation. #Electrification #ElectricVehicles #REEV #EVStrategy #BatteryTechnology #FutureOfMobility

On the way to digital rail: Hitachi Rail chooses Germany as a role model for ultra-modern rail transportation of the future. 🚅 In mid-2024, Hitachi Rail took over the Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) business unit from the Thales Group. With the acquisition of the specialist for railroad signaling systems, the Japanese company has positioned itself at the forefront of the global mobility sector. Hitachi Rail has set its sights on Germany, citing the world's largest accessible rail market – and at the same time the most challenging. “If we manage to give Germany modern rail transport, then other nations will follow suit,” says Markus Fritz , Vice President Markets Germany & Global Account Manager Deutsche Bahn at Hitachi. Trials are already underway to show what could become reality in the future. Together with DB Cargo and partners such as Knorr-Bremse , Hitachi Rail is putting Europe’s first automated freight locomotive on the rails. For the current pilot project, on the Dutch Betuweroute, a DB Cargo locomotive was equipped with state-of-the-art ATO (Automatic Train Operation) and RTO (Remote Train Operation) technology for the first time. With this initiative, Hitachi Rail wants to support one of Europe’s most important transport policy goals: more freight on the railways. In addition, Hitachi Rail is working closely with network operator DB InfraGO to advance the “Digital Rail Germany” program. The company is currently primarily supporting the transformation towards digital signaling technology. But this is only the first step. Hitachi Rail can and wants to supply complete systems from the large corporation’s portfolio, including power supply for rail electrification and ultra-modern trains – the full range. Industrial manufacturers across Europe and beyond face mounting cost pressures from volatile energy markets, rising labor expenses, and tightening sustainability requirements. With material costs accounting for up to 50% of total spend, improving cost efficiency has become a strategic imperative. Many cost-out initiatives fail due to siloed organizations and a lack of cost transparency. Yet a structured, integrated approach can unlock substantial savings. By leveraging four key levers – process, design, contract, and strategy – companies can achieve both quick wins and long-term structural improvements, with savings potential of up to 20%. Treating cost-out not as a one-off exercise but as a strategic capability helps manufacturers boost resilience, secure competitiveness, and position themselves as market leaders in a challenging environment. ➡️ Read the full article “Product Cost-Out in Industrial Manufacturing“ at Porsche Consulting to explore the four-lever model and learn how to turn margin pressure into lasting advantage: https://lnkd.in/ewYVEt6K #IndustrialManufacturing #ProductCostOut #CostEfficiency #ValueCreation #IndustrialGoods

“It’s All About Mobility.” This year’s IAA MOBILITY motto in Munich highlights the future of mobility in all its dimensions, from sustainability and technological breakthroughs to the way people and goods move around the globe. The automotive industry showcased its next transformation steps: affordable electric cars with longer ranges are set to bring e-mobility to the mass market from 2026 onward. Beyond electrification, the focus is on software-defined vehicles, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving, highlighting how digital technologies are becoming central to future mobility, with rapid translation of ideas into products emerging as a decisive competitive factor. For Porsche Consulting, speed is key. Knut Kruemmel , Senior Partner, joined a mobility expert panel, hosted by Hampleton Partners , to discuss speed as the driving force of the ongoing transformation, describing it as not only a technological factor but also an economic and cultural imperative: “Those who can innovate faster and transform ideas into products will define the future of the industry.” IAA MOBILITY 2025 once again demonstrates how innovation, strategy and vision converge to redefine the way we move. #IAAMobility2025 #Mobility #Electrification #AutomotiveIndustry #Transformation

How can European car manufacturers close the gap in product development speed? At the IAA MOBILITY in Munich, Sebastian Berner , Associate Partner at Porsche Consulting, explored this question during his keynote together with GFT Technologies . While European companies often take up to 54 months to move from concept to product, Chinese manufacturers achieve the same in just 24 months. Artificial Intelligence can help close this gap by transforming R&D across the board, from requirements management to project planning. First implementations already show strong results, with reduced analysis effort and significant productivity gains. However, AI can only reach its full potential with clean, connected data. Many organizations still struggle with fragmented information spread across systems that do not communicate with each other. Solving this challenge will be the key to unlocking faster development cycles and safeguarding Europe’s competitiveness: ➡️ Legacy meets disruption European OEMs have long been pillars of industrial excellence. But complexity, speed, and global competition now demand a new approach. ➡️ AI is the lever Artificial Intelligence is becoming a strategic lever, especially in early-stage product development. It can automate requirement analysis, reduce costs, and accelerate time-to-market. ➡️ A mindset shift is required This transformation is also cultural. To shape the future of mobility, organizations must rethink innovation processes. #IAA2025 #Automotive #ArtificialIntelligence #ProductDevelopment

The pharmaceutical industry is at a turning point: $120B in revenue from the top 15 firms is at risk due to patent expirations before 2030. 💊 To bridge this gap, companies are shifting to fewer but larger, more strategic deals. Over the past five years, licensing and partnerships have overtaken M&A in both volume and value. Yet capital alone won’t secure success. Firms must balance short-term revenue needs with bold innovation bets, align investments with strategy, and scale new technologies into operations. Strong demand is focused on near-market products and high-growth areas such as oncology, immunology, and cardiometabolic diseases. The winners will be those who turn innovation into patient impact. There is a lack of affordable housing, schools, and preschools. At the same time, in the construction industry contracts have abruptly fallen off. What needs to change in the way project developers and construction trades work together to be successful in the long term? 🚧 🏢 When the construction industry falters in the wake of a boom, a domino effect typically sets in: While the first companies are starting to slump, other market players are still filling their order books from the boom phase. The companies at the very front, which are affected early on, include the project developers. After the developers, it will be the trades’ turn if they don’t take prompt action. According to Roland Sitzberger , Partner at Porsche Consulting, a completely new and unusual mindset — for the construction sector — is needed, namely, a focus on customer needs instead of individual success. Coordination, collaboration, and providing solid overall performance “from a single source” are competitive advantages that can save the day, particularly in hard times. It is advisable to integrate the trades into the preliminary planning stages. The ideal set-up here includes shared office space with interdisciplinary teams. This initial collaboration is advantageous for all concerned. Consortiums can be formed early on that work hand in hand until the owner receives the keys — with the aim of shared overall success. Data-driven retail transformation strategies are redefining the way automotive businesses secure competitiveness, customer focus and future readiness. 🚗 As a strategic partner at the AUTOHAUS Sommerakademie 2025, Porsche Consulting is contributing expertise to one of the leading forums for decision-makers in automotive wholesale and retail. Knut Kruemmel , Senior Partner Automotive, emphasized: “The automotive sector is undergoing a fundamental transformation that requires clear strategies, strong partnerships and decisive action.“ Together with industry experts Juergen Stackmann , Director Future Mobility Lab at Universität St.Gallen (HSG) and Senior Advisor at Porsche Consulting, Imelda Labbé , President of Verband der Internationalen Kraftfahrzeughersteller (VDIK) , and Ralph M. Meunzel , Publishing Director at Auto Business Media, s.r.o. , the discussions focus on the future of automotive distribution, digital innovation and sustainable profitability in a rapidly evolving market: ➡️ Driving Internal Growth When external markets no longer provide sufficient momentum, companies need to activate internal levers. Efficiency, cost discipline and operational excellence become critical to unlocking sustainable performance gains. ➡️ Learning From Within Excellence often already exists inside the organization. By benchmarking best practices, sharing knowledge and adapting proven approaches, companies can accelerate their own transformation journeys. ➡️ Clarity Through Focus In times of rising complexity, success depends on clear priorities. Turning data into transparency empowers leaders to identify the right levers, make fact-based decisions and direct resources where they create the greatest impact. It is essential to exchange perspectives and develop the strategies that will shape the future. #AutomotiveRetail #MobilityTransformation #ThoughtLeadership #DataDrivenRetail
