How can European equipment suppliers strengthen their position in the global battery industry? 🔋 This question was addressed by Matthias Möhrke from Porsche Consulting at the CARS 2.0: Cluster Automotive Region Stuttgart at Messe Stuttgart, hosted by the Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH (WRS). His presentation focused on the findings of the Porsche Consulting study “Battery Manufacturing 2030+: From Hype to Hard Truths”, developed in collaboration with VDMA Battery Production, Agora Strategy, and Fraunhofer ISI. The study highlights a major shift in the industry: While global battery demand continues to grow, the pace of gigafactory expansion is slowing. At the same time, European and North American equipment suppliers face increasing competitive pressure, while Asian players continue to dominate cell production and technology partnerships. With a projected cumulative market value of €250–280 billion between 2025 and 2035, battery equipment manufacturing remains a significant growth opportunity for the mechanical engineering sector. Future success, however, will depend on specialization, strategic alliances, and deep process know-how. ➡️ Read the full study to explore the structural shifts in the global battery value chain and the strategic levers that will shape the industry’s next decade: https://lnkd.in/dzRYrg5i #Battery #BatteryManufacturing #Electrification #EnergyTransition #Gigafactory #IndustrialStrategy #Sustainability

Generation Z is redefining the rules of the consumer health market. What was once a category focused on treatment is rapidly becoming a market centered on prevention, daily well-being, and personalized health management. For manufacturers and retailers, this shift creates significant growth opportunities, but also raises expectations around trust, convenience, and product relevance. The global market is expected to grow from $258 billion in 2023 to $380 billion by 2028, with Europe growing even faster than the global average. In this environment, Gen Z is becoming a decisive factor, already accounting for roughly $600 billion in global consumer spending.  Porsche Consulting surveyed more than 1,000 consumers aged 18 to 30 in Germany to better understand Gen Z’s behavior in purchasing over-the-counter medications and supplements, which are emerging as key growth enablers in the consumer health market: ➡️ Health is holistic.  Gen Z integrates products and supplements into daily routines to support sleep, fitness, mental health, and overall well-being. Prevention has become part of lifestyle. ➡️ Trust matters.  Consumers expect transparent ingredients, scientifically proven effectiveness, and clear value for money. Many are willing to pay more for products with proven benefits. ➡️ Convenience is essential.  Fast delivery, seamless ordering, and digital purchasing experiences are becoming baseline expectations. For manufacturers and retailers, the implication is clear: companies that combine credible products, personalization, and digital convenience will secure long-term market share in one of the fastest growing categories. The battery industry in Europe is not slowing down. It is entering its next phase of industrial reality. At the 10th Automotive Photonics Conference hosted by TRUMPF , Porsche Consulting presented a joint study with VDMA , Fraunhofer ISI and Agora Strategy on the future of battery manufacturing. The central message is clear. The recent wave of project cancellations marks the end of the first hype cycle, not the end of the industry. Global demand remains strong across Europe, the United States, and China, with automotive continuing to drive growth. At the same time, technology choices are becoming more focused. Prismatic cells dominate volume segments in Europe, while cylindrical formats gain relevance in premium applications and pouch cells continue to lose share. Growth will also extend beyond new factories. Retrofitting existing plants is emerging as a major opportunity, driven by shorter innovation cycles and increasing pressure on efficiency and speed. Regulation adds another layer of complexity. Frameworks such as the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and the Industry Accelerator Act (IAA) set the right direction. However, fragmented implementation across EU member states and high energy costs remain structural disadvantages. For European equipment players, success will depend on clear positioning, deep process expertise, and consistent cost discipline to compete with established Asian players. 👉 Read the full study “Battery Manufacturing 2030+: From Hype to Hard Truths” to explore the structural shifts in the global battery value chain and the strategic levers that will shape the industry’s next decade: https://lnkd.in/dzRYrg5i #Battery #BatteryManufacturing #Electrification #EnergyTransition #Gigafactory #Sustainability

Chinese competitors are no longer positioned as low cost alternatives. For decades, European manufacturers led through engineering excellence and global export strength. This model is now under pressure as Chinese players rapidly close capability gaps while maintaining significant cost advantages and accelerating time to market. They deliver machines that are often significantly cheaper while meeting performance requirements in many applications, supported by shorter development cycles and highly responsive service models. At the same time, Germany’s machinery sector shows clear signs of structural strain. Declining orders, lower capacity utilization, and continued production contraction reflect deeper challenges in cost structures and innovation speed rather than a temporary downturn. What differentiates China is not a single advantage but the combination of scale, integrated ecosystems, and policy support. This enables faster iteration, tighter links between research and production, and continuous cost improvement across entire value chains. The shift is already underway. The question is how quickly organizations can adapt their operating models to match the new pace of competition. ➡️ Read the full article „China Speed in Industrial Goods“ at Porsche Consutling: https://lnkd.in/diU278FR #MechanicalEngineering #IndustrialGoods #Manufacturing #China #Germany

Porsche Consulting collaborates with Amazon Web Services to help companies turn AI concepts into real business outcomes. In real-world business practice, a significant gap remains between what AI is capable of delivering and what is actually realized across many industries. Closing this gap requires not only the right technology, but well-defined business cases, redesigned processes, and organizational change. That is why Porsche Consulting collaborates with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a launch partner in the Business Consulting and Advisory Partner (BCAP) program. The BCAP program is designed to accelerate the adoption of AI capabilities by combining consulting expertise with specialist technology knowledge. In addition, it aims to lower the financial barriers for AI transformation programs through investments in client relationships by both partners. The focus is on identifying and realizing high-impact AI use cases, helping decision-makers move faster from ideas to measurable results. “AI only creates value when it is embedded in the core of the business. Our collaboration with AWS strengthens our position to successfully support clients from strategy to scalable execution,” says Marc Ziegler , Senior Partner and Lead Digital Transformation at Porsche Consulting. "The question is not whether these transitions will happen. It's whether Europe will shape them into its next competitive advantage." - said Giovanni Notarnicola , Partner Porsche Consulting, from the stage of SEMI Europe Industry Strategy Symposium. The keynote addresses the gap between ambition and execution in the three structural transitions reshaping semiconductor competitiveness across Europe. 🤖 Simulation is replacing the lab. Automotive-grade reliability requires up to 2.000 hours of zero-failure stress testing, and a single advanced-node iteration can cost tens of thousands of dollars per wafer: physics-based and AI-enabled simulation environments are becoming the new R&D engine. 💡 Autonomy is no longer a future state. 30% of Europe’s semiconductor workforce is expected to retire by 2030. Autonomous decision-making will become central to yield management, scheduling, and equipment optimization. Humanoids are key enablers, pushing the boundaries of what automation can achieve. 🔄 Ecosystem is the competitive advantage. The EU Chips Act is opening new space for Integrated Device Manufacturers, equipment makers, cloud and AI players, and research institutions to collaborate at a different level. Shared capabilities accelerate competition: no single company wins this alone. 👉 Interested in the potential of AI in semiconductor? Download the report we designed for SEMI https://lnkd.in/ezbPj_Br

Is the European semiconductor industry moving fast enough to lead the next decade? Porsche Consulting is proud to contribute to SEMI Industry Strategy Symposium Europe, the premier forum on semiconductor Industry, this year held in Poland on March 11th - 12th -13th The event brings together leading industry experts and microelectronics executives to shape the strategic agenda for a sector that, in the EU alone, is projected to grow to USD 217 billion by 2034, boosted by €86 billion in public and private investments mobilized by 2030 under the EU Chips Act to strengthen Europe’s position in the global supply chain. Giovanni Notarnicola , Partner Porsche Consulting, joins the Strategic R&D & Disruptive Manufacturing session with the keynote: "From Silicon to Simulation, From Automation to Autonomy" The industry is no longer rewarded for incremental gains, but it demands mastering three simultaneous transitions: - Predictive Virtualization, where physics-based models are displacing silicon as the primary R&D learning vehicle. - Manufacturing Autonomy, where the integration gap is the new competitive frontier. - Ecosystem Architecture, where geopolitical pressure is forcing an entirely new model of collaboration across IDMs, equipment makers, and governments. 🤍 Happy International Women’s Day! 🤍 2026 marks a special milestone. For 115 years, International Women’s Day has represented the global fight for women’s rights, visibility, and equal participation. To honor the occasion, we welcomed Dr. Alina Gales for an inspiring keynote. She leads the Diversity & Inclusion Office at the Technische Universität München and works closely with the Executive Board on advancing diversity strategy. In her research, she explores the mutual influence of technology and society in relation to gender, and specifically deals with privileges and discrimination in connection with AI. AI is neither neutral nor objective. It can reinforce inequalities, for example through biased hiring data, stereotypical representations of women in the media, or the absence of female and queer perspectives in training data. But AI can also uncover unfair patterns, support more diverse representation, and enable more transparent decisions. Bias in AI is not isolated but a structural issue throughout the data process. Technology reflects the people who develop and use it. That's why AI competence is important for everyone, from individuals to leaders to entire organizations. On International Women's Day, we can ask: What image of women do we want to see in this digital “mirror”? And what responsibility do we take to shape it? At Porsche Consulting, we regularly invite inspiring voices like Dr. Alina Gales to broaden our perspectives and strengthen our approach to Diversity, Equality & Inclusion. 👉 Find out more here: https://bit.ly/4b3Mjty #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026 #DiversityAndInclusion #ResponsibleAI
